Hello and welcome to our Blog for the 16th – 23rd June, 2009. Several groups from the department of Geography at the University of Reading ventured to South West Crete for our Human and Physical field trip. Over a period of a week we studied the physical effects of the December 2000 flood within the Ilingas Gorge and the surrounding area, aswell as understanding the influence of tourism in both the Samaria Gorge and the nearby villages of Loutro and Chora Sfakion. The South West coast of Crete clearly had a lot to offer in terms of studying both the human and physical sides of the diverse subject of Geography. It was also a great location to both stay and work in. This blog is the story of Team 4′s adventure and we hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed the real thing. Happy blogging!
